Maria Reis Rocha (Lisbon, 1988)

Throughout my artistic and academic path I have lived in Brussels (BAC in Arts at École Européenne II), Milan (Art and Multimedia at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera) and London (Master's in Graphic Moving Image at the London College of Communication) where I then stayed for 8 years working.

In 2018, I returned to Lisbon, my hometown, where I have since dedicated myself exclusively to my artistic practice.

Along this path, I studied design, communication, multimedia, music, animation and illustration.

I work primarily in book illustration, hand-painted textile patterns, illustrated series and commissioned projects. I also collaborate across other fields, including music videos and cultural projects.

Through drawing and painting I explore narratives and visual worlds, whether developing more dreamlike settings or engaging with contemporary themes.

I get involved in humanitarian projects, using art as a form of awareness, and I am co-founder of the non-profit organisation Uma Causa Por Dia, where I remain actively involved.
